God Speaks

At 5:00 am Saturday morning I woke up to a voice so loving and kind saying to me,

“Ardiss, get up! It’s a brand new day!”

I looked at the digital clock beside my bed and I argued, “It’s 5:00 in the morning and I have nothing to get up for, I have cancer!”

The voice with love, kindness and joy came again at 5:15 am saying,

“Ardiss, get up! It’s a brand new day!”

Again I looked at the clock and argued, “It’s 5:15 in the morning and I don’t get up on Saturday mornings at 5:15. I have cancer and I have nothing to get up for.”

The voice with so much love, joy, kindness, and grace

called to me again at 5:30 am saying,

“Ardiss, get up! It’s a brand new day!”

This time I looked at the clock and saw that it was 5:30 in the morning, but I didn’t get an opportunity to say a word. This time I didn’t argue with the voice.

One moment I was beaten down,

The next moment lifted up;

One moment I was asleep in bed,

The next moment transported to the shower;

One moment I was in profound despair,

The next moment I was singing my Red Glove Review songs.

Overflowing with love, kindness and joy,

As if a baptism, water poured over me,

Cleansing my body, cleansing my soul.

I have no recollection of getting out of bed,

I felt as if I was flying on the wings of a Dove,

And there I was Found, singing strong, with a heart full of joy.

The next moment I was in the shower singing my Red Glove Review songs (happy songs). I was overflowing with love, joy and water at 5:30 in the morning in the shower!

I must have been pretty loud at my singing because my husband rushed into the bathroom and asked, “Ardiss what’s wrong???” He looked really scared and maybe he thought I’d finally flipped my lid!

I answered in my new overflowing, joyful, non tearful way,

“Don everything is okay. It’s all over with, I’m cured!”

I even asked him if he wanted to exercise with me right then! I told him I was going downstairs to exercise with my favorite exercise tape and I was going to call Teresa, Amy and Maria to ask them if I could still be in the Red Glove Review that night! I told him I could hardly wait until they got up so I could ask them!

Don said, “I’ll exercise with you but not with your exercise tape.”
